Walkthrough

  1. To start this quest you'll first need to reach the Tree Gnome Village which is located in the center of the maze found southwest of East Ardougne. Use the map below to find your way through the maze and to the village which you can enter by squeezing through the railings.

  2. Once you're inside the village, head to the northeast corner where you'll find King Bolren. Talk to him and he'll tell you that one of the three orbs that shields the village from the Khazard army to the north has been stolen after they tried hiding it as a last resort and he needs your help retrieving it. Agree to help and you will be led out of the maze by Elkoy.

  3. Once outside the maze, make your way northwest and find Commander Montai who can be distinguished from the other gnomes by his red armor. Talk to him and he'll ask you to repair the gnome's defences. Give him 6 Logs for the repairs and talk to him again to learn that he sent out three tracker gnomes to obtain the coordinates of the Khazard stronghold which they can then use to fire the nearby ballista, break down the wall and retrieve the orb. However, the gnomes haven't returned and he'll ask you to locate them for him and obtain the coordinates.

  4. Head northwest across the bridge and around the back of the Khazard stronghold's northwestern building where you'll find Tracker gnome 1. Talk to him and he'll give you the height-coordinate.

  5. Next, enter the stronghold's northeastern building where you'll find Tracker gnome 2 in a cell. Talk to him and he'll give you the y-coordinate.

  6. Now head into the trees just southwest of the stronghold to find the Tracker gnome 3. Talk to him and you'll find out these he's gone crazy and talking nonsense, but he will give you one of the following hints to solve in order to work out the x-coordinate:
    • "less than my hands": 1
    • "more than my head": 2
    • "more than we but less than our feet": 3
    • "my legs and your legs": 4

  7. Cross back over the bridge to the Gnome side of the battlefield and you'll find the Ballista to the southwest. Click on it and enter the x-coordinate to fire at and break down the Khazard stronghold's wall.

  8. Cross back over the bridge to the Khazard side of the battlefield and find the Crumbled wall on the south side of the northwestern building which you can climb over. Do so to enter the building and kill the Khazard commander on this floor.

  9. Now climb up and ladder in the western room and kill another Khazard commander, after which you can open the chest to obtain the Orb of protection.

  10. Head back to the entrance of the maze and choose to follow Elkoy to be escorted back to the Tree Gnome Village. Once there, talk to King Bolren again and he will inform you that the village was attacked during the night and the two remaining orbs have been taken by the Khazard warlord.

  11. Exit the village and maze and make your way northwest past the Khazard stronghold and follow West Ardougne's southern wall until you find the Khazard warlord. Talk to him and he'll refuse to hand over the orbs, so attack him and once dead you'll retrieve the two stolen Orbs of protection.

  12. Return the Orbs of protection. to King Bolren and you'll see a cutscene in which the gnomes celebrate and return the three orbs to their rightful place on the Spirit tree.
