Horror from the Deep

<ol> <li> Go to the Lighthouse and talk to <a href="/database/npc/larrissa">Larrissa</a>. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/larrissa.png" alt="Larrissa" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Go South of her across the jumping rocks and into the <a href="/rs3/city/barbarian-outpost-and-lighthouse">Barbarian Outpost</a> Agility Course to talk to <a href="/database/npc/gunnjorn">Gunnjorn</a>. He will give you the <a href="/database/item/lighthouse-key">Lighthouse key</a>. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/gunnjorn.png" alt="Gunnjorn" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Use the two <a href="/database/item/plank">Plank</a> and 60 <a href="/database/item/steel-nails">Steel nails</a> to fix the broken bridge East of the Lighthouse. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/fixbridge.png" alt="Fix bridge" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Head back and talk to <a href="/database/npc/larrissa">Larrissa</a>. After talking to her go into the Lighthouse and up to the second floor. Search the bookcase and select "Take all books". Read all the books to find out more about the storyline. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/bookcase.png" alt="Bookcase" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Go up one more level. Use the <a href="/database/item/swamp-tar">Swamp tar</a> with the lighting mechanism and then use your <a href="/database/item/tinderbox">Tinderbox</a> on it (Tinderbox must NOT be in your tool-belt). Once lit, use the <a href="/database/item/molten-glass">Molten glass</a> on the lighting mechanism. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/fixedlight.png" alt="Fixed Light" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Go back down and talk to <a href="/database/npc/larrissa">Larrissa</a>. She will tell you to continue looking for her boyfriend, <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a>. Now, descend down the iron ladder on the first floor. Make sure you have read the <a href="/database/item/journal-horror-from-the-deep">Journal (Horror of the Deep)</a> or you will not be able to go down the ladder. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/ironladder.png" alt="Iron Ladder" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Once down the ladder, approach the strange wall. Use the <a href="/database/item/air-rune">Air rune</a>, <a href="/database/item/water-rune">Water rune</a>, <a href="/database/item/fire-rune">Fire rune</a>, <a href="/database/item/earth-rune">Earth rune</a>, Arrow and Sword on the strange wall. <br /><br /> <span class="smallbold">Note:</span> You will not get any of these items back. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/sturdydoorfar.png" alt="Sturdy Door Far" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Open the strange wall, climb down the ladder, and talk to <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a>. As soon as you have finished talking to <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a>, a <a href="/database/monster/dagannoth-baby">Dagannoth</a> (Level 94) will appear, which you will have to defeat. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/jossik.png" alt="Jossik" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> Once you have killed it, <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a> will inform you that this was not the monster that attacked him. A <a href="/database/monster/dagannoth-mother">Dagannoth mother</a> (Level 120) will appear and start attacking you. It uses a form of the prayers and changes colors to show what it is weak to. She attacks with both range and melee attacks. <br /><br /> <ul> <li>Orange means you can melee.</li> <li>Green means you can range.</li> <li>Red means you can use fire spells.</li> <li>Brown means you can use earth spells.</li> <li>Blue means you can use water spells.</li> <li>White means you can use air spells.</li> </ul> <span class="smallbold">Strategy: </span>Her range attack is weak so always use protect from melee. Keep your prayer up and keep an eye on your hits. Some people recommend hiding behind the nearby rocks as it changes to forms you cannot attack, then rushing back out to continue the battle. Another strategy is to turn on protect from ranged and to range her from behind the nearby rocks. When you turn on protect from ranged, she will switch to melee and never use her ranged attack. This strategy will prevent her from attacking you as long as you keep praying the protect from ranged prayer. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/mother.png" alt="Dagonnoth mother" /> <br /><br /> </li> <li> When you have killed the mother you will be automatically transported out of the room and receive your reward. <br /><br /> Congratulations! Quest Completed! <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/horror_from_the_deep_reward.png" alt="Quest Completed!" /> <br /><br /> </li> </ol> <p class="undersubheader">Lighthouse Store:</p> <p> Upon completing the quest you gain access to <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a>'s store, on the second floor of the Lighthouse. <br /><br /> <img src="/assets/runehq/image/quests/p2p/horrorfromthedeep/lighthousestore.png" alt="The Lighthouse Store" /> </p> <p class="undersubheader">Damaged Books:</p> <p> <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a> will tell you to read what the <a href="/database/item/rusty-casket">Rusty casket</a> says. Pick the same god twice to receive a Damaged book of that god (Guthix, Saradomin or Zamorak). Once you have completed one of these 3 books, you will be able to buy the remaining 2 along with 3 additional damaged books (Armadyl, Bandos, or Zaros). All Damaged books give a +5 Prayer bonus and are wielded in the pocket spot. The Damaged books start out the same, giving only a +5 Prayer bonus. However, 4 pages obtained through Treasure Trails or purchased from another player, can be added to the related god books. When all four different pages (1 through 4) have been added, the completed book becomes a different item. </p> <p> Besides the stats, each book can be used to bless prayer symbols (level 50 <a href="/rs3/skill/prayer">Prayer</a> required). Each book also has its own sayings when you Preach with them. Marriage ceremonies, Blessings, and Last Rites are also available. These prayer books can be made into Illuminated books (with 60 <a href="/rs3/skill/prayer">Prayer</a> and 60 <a href="/rs3/skill/crafting">Crafting</a>, and completion of the <a href="/rs3/quest/one-piercing-note">One Piercing Note</a> quest). By doing so you gain 10k XP in both skills for each book that is illuminated. <br/><br/> If you lose your book, visit <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a> and he will say he found it washed ashore. It will include whatever Torn pages you had already added. Once you have completed a book, you may buy another (of a different god type) from <a href="/database/npc/jossik">Jossik</a> for 5K coins. </p>
