Overview

Fancy a game of chess? The Void Knights do! Head down to the Void Knight Outpost and play Conquest, a strategic battle against your enemies.

Guide

You can start Conquest by talking to either Captain Ethar or Knight Dorian, who can be found in the house north of the General Shop. Speak to Captain Ethar if you want to be given the Conquest tutorial or just to Knight Dorian to select your squad. The troops available are divided into 7 categories. You can choose up to 10 troops of any type, but every player is limited to 1000 Squad Resources and you must 'buy' these.

Selecting your squad

Squad Members
Name and Cost (Squad Resources) Movement (number of squares) Range (distance they can attack from) Damage Health
Scout - 25 6 1 100 100
Foot soldier - 50 4 1 100 300
Halberdier - 75 4 2 200 200
Archer - 100 3 6 100 100
Mage - 100 4 4 200 100
Knight - 100 4 1 300 300
Champion - 200 4 1 400 500

After you have selected your troops, talk to Knight Dorian again to choose your formation. When choosing the formation of your troops, be aware that no troop can move through another one, so it is advised not to put one troop behind the other.

By talking to Knight Dorian, you can also select up to 4 of the 9 different commands. Commands are special abilities which can be used to support your squad or hinder your opponent's. They also use up Squad Resources. However, these commands are very useful, and arguably necessary.

Note: When picking, be advised that 'Battle Cry' and 'Charge' are often popular choices.

When you are ready with your troops and commands, climb down the stairs next to Captain Ethar. Here, you will see 2 barriers:

Green barrier: This is the auto-matching chamber. This will automatically pair you with someone else in the chamber.
Red barrier: This is the challenge chamber. Here, you can challenge another player and choose between a 'regular' and a 'staked' match.

When you have an opponent, you must set a time limit for each turn. This can be set from anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.

Playing the Game

In order to win, you must defeat your opponent's squad with yours. However, if your opponent logs out, you can also win if you wish to accept the victory.

There are two squads, the Light Squad (north of the board) and the Dark Squad (south of the board). A coin flip will decide who goes first. Towards the top of the screen, you can see whose turn it is and how much time is left for that turn.

Each turn has 4 phases: selection, movement, combat and rally.

Turn options

Selection phase: You must select which troop you want to use for this turn.
Movement phase: You must choose which of the highlighted blue squares (available moves) you want to move to.
Combat phase: You will now attack any of your opponent's troops in range. Be warned that your opponent can retaliate too.
Rally phase: This phase serves as preparation for your next turn.

Commands can be activated at any time during your turn, althought it is recommended to use them during the Movement phase if the cooldown has passed and you have enough command points. You get 25 command points per turn and you can earn them by killing your opponent's troops.
